DR. Arthur H. Elkind, MD. Director of the Elkind Headache Center is a nationally recognized headache authority and has been treating patients since 1960. He is a board-certified internist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of headache. Trainde at the famed Headache Unit of Montefiore Hospital and Director of the Unit from 1973 to 1978, he then continued treatment of headache patients at his office in Mount Vernon and organized the Elkind Headache Center.
He is a long time physician on the staff of the Mount Vernon Hospitals as well as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College in Valhala. Among his current professional affiliations Dr. Elkind is a member of the American Association for the Study of Headache, and a member of the World Federation of Neurology Research Group of Migraine and Headache and President of the Executive Board of the National Headache Foundation. The Foundation is a public and professional non-profit charitable organization whose aim is to promote support for headache sufferers.
Dr. Elkind is highly respected author of several books for the public as well as for professionals. His text Handbook of Headache Disorders: 1st and 2nd Editions,
and Migraines: Everything You Need to Know About their Cause and Cure, are well regarded. He is also the book review editor of the Headache Quarterly, a professional publication. In additions to his books, he is a contributor to numerous scientific and lay publications on headache. Dr Elkind lectures throughout the United States and Canda at professional,public, and corporate meetings.
